Obituary For Anna Andrews

Peabody - Anna Andrews 97, died Thursday, May 19, 2022. She was the daughter of William (Zambounis) and Despina (Karakoudas) Gambos. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and went through the Peabody school system.

Anna was born in Samos Greece in 1925 and moved to the US as a child. She spent her youth in Peabody, MA where at 16 she met her life-long love, and soulmate Theodore Andrews (deceased in 2017) who lived next door. They were married after World War II and were married for 69 years. Their devoted life together focused on family and love.

When Anna was young, she loved singing in the church choir. Her love of music stayed with her for her entire life. She played piano, had a beautiful voice, sang all the time and loved classical music and of course music of the 40s. She looked forward to her subscription series to Symphony Hall and other venues. She loved decorating and was a skilled seamstress. She had an eye for design and created a warm, comfortable and loving home for her family. Holiday celebrations are joyfully remembered.

Anna loved with all her heart and her love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren could be seen as her eyes filled with tears of joy each time she saw them.

Anna and Ted had three children: Jim Andrews and wife Janet, of Nevada, Ellen Andrews Lee and husband Sang of Gloucester, and Bill Andrews and wife Kathy of Reading. She adored her seven grandchildren, Kristen, Michael and wife Crestina, Kevin and wife Angela, Sunny, Taylor and husband Eric, Jenny and husband Keith, and Nick. She had five great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Julia, Walker, Oliver and Miles.

ARRANGEMENTS: At the request of the family, the Funeral Service will be private, with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody. Arrangements were made by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
