Obituary For Anthony P. "Tony" Cirurso

Anthony P. "Tony" Cirurso, a former resident of Winchester, MA, Port Charlotte, FL and more recently a resident of Brooksby Village in Peabody, MA, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.He was born on August 20, 1933 in Winchester to Angelina (Dattilo) and Frank Cirurso.Tony attended Winchester schools, graduating in 1951, where he was a three-sport star and captain of the football and baseball teams. Tony was proud of his achievements on the field, and was honored to be inducted into the Winchester Sports Foundation Hall of Fame in 2004. Tony was also an avid Boston sports fan with a special affinity for the Red Sox.Tony continued his education at Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University, earning a degree in Civil Engineering. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. Tony worked as a Structural Engineer for 40 years with a highlight being his participation on the team that retrofitted the inside of the iconic Epcot Ball.Tony is survived by his wife Lois E. (Thibault) with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Frank (Linda) Cirurso; Ann Marie (John) Short, Scott (Nancy) Simeone and Elaine (Michael) Fitzpatrick. Tony was the beloved Grampy to eight grandsons and seven great-granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister Marion Procopio and many nieces and nephews.Tony cherished family above all else and was a constant source of support and guidance for all. He had an easy-going manner and was able to put people at ease with his unique combination of wisdom and humor.He was an avid toymaker and woodworking enthusiast and put those skills to great use building toys and furniture for his grandsons that are now being enjoyed by his great-granddaughters.Upon retirement Tony and Lois resided in Port Charlotte, FL for 16 years where he participated in numerous sports and outdoor activities and was especially fond of golf, notably achieving two certified holes-in-one. In 2015 they moved to Brooksby Village where he met new friends and continued his enjoyment of golf and other sporting and social activities. Tony was pre-deceased by his wife Lois Ann (Healey) and sister Angela Castagno.Arrangements: There will be a funeral Mass on Friday, June 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Brooksby Village Chapel located at 300 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, MA. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
