Obituary For Antonio G Abreu

Antonio G Abreu, 77, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Maria do Nascimento (Cesar) Abreu.

Born in Santa Marinha, Portugal, he was the son of the late Sebastiao and Maria do Ceu dos Santos (Monteiro) Abreu. He was raised and educated in Portugal and immigrated to the United States in the 1960’s and has spent the last 50 years in Peabody.

Antonio worked in the autobody industry for many years and after 12 years working for Thomas Ford in Beverly, he retired. Antonio enjoyed being outdoors and gardening, he also enjoyed routing on his favorite soccer team, Benfica, and was a long-time member of the Club de Luis Camoes in Peabody.

Besides his loving wife Maria, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Paulo and Tina Abreu of Peabody, and his daughter and son-in-law, Leonor and Tony Cunha of Ocala, FL, his sisters, Arminda Almeida, Sue Abreu, and Suzanne Giles, all of Arizona, and Ceu Deserto of Peabody, he is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Alec, Tori, Tyler, and Tiana and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gasper and Carlos Abreu, and his sister, Palmira Crisostomo.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 8:30 until 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
