Obituary For Aristos George "Alan" Kalivas

Peabody – Aristos George “Alan” Kalivas, 67, beloved husband of Victoria (Gayasco) Kalivas, died Friday, May 5, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late George A. and Artemice (Xenos) Kalivas. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School. He continued his education earning a degree in ancient history and philosophy from Loyola University in Montreal and Middlesex Community College.

Mr. Kalivas had been employed for many years as a dental laboratory technician until the time of his retirement.

A lifelong resident of Peabody, Mr. Kalivas enjoyed participating in the New England Vintage Electronics Club (formerly known as the New England Antique Radio Club), and regularly attended their shows to search for antique radios, phonographs, and vintage electronic parts. Not only would he bring old radios and other electronics back to working condition, but he would also restore them in such a way that they looked pristine and beautiful.

In addition to old radio repair, he also was a classic car enthusiast. In the summertime, he frequently attended the Cruisin' the Tree car show in Danvers with his family.

A true audiophile, he had a great love of music, particularly jazz from the 1920s and 1930s, and owned an extensive record collection. He was extremely enthusiastic for the art of filmmaking, and especially loved movies from the Silent Era. He was an avid comic book collector, and collected comics from the Golden, Silver, and Bronze ages since the late 1970s. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife with whom he shared twenty-nine years of marriage, he is survived by three daughters, Anastasia Kalivas Coil and her husband, Ben of Reading, Artemis Kalivas and Athena Kalivas both of Peabody and a sister, Stella Kalivas of Peabody. He was also the brother of the late Anastasia Dandaneau.

My condolences to Stella, Victoria and family about Alan's passing! I went to school with Alan and we graduated together in 1973 from PVMHS! We also worked together at Raymond's Pharmacy in the 1970's! Whenever I communicated with Alan he always had a calm demeanor with a smile! May his memory be eternal!

Stella, Victoria, and children: I was shocked stumbling upon Al's obituary. We had been neighbors for 47 years. Quiet man and never complained. There are no comforting words except I am truly sorry for loss. Ellen

Aristos, I love you so much. My world got a little darker since you went away. You were the best brother I could ever have. Sleep well my sweet Aristos. I will keep you in my heart forever.

Papa, you were the best father anyone could ever ask for. You were selfless, never complained, and so devoted to us right to the end when you were taken from us too soon. Your wit and humor were unmatched and uniquely you. You inspired me in so many ways and I'm so proud to be your daughter. I'll carry you in my heart forever and ever until we meet again. I love you so much Pop. And I know you're replying to me now, as you always did, with, "I love you too, more than you know."

My deepest sympathy to my cousin's family. He was certainly someone special who took care of his family always regardless of any hardships thrown his way and never complaining. He certainly was an inspiration to others when faced with life's bumps in the road. May his memory be eternal. A special thank you to his wife; Victoria for his care these last few years when he needed it most.
