Peabody – Aristos George “Alan” Kalivas, 67, beloved husband of Victoria (Gayasco) Kalivas, died Friday, May 5, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late George A. and Artemice (Xenos) Kalivas. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School. He continued his education earning a degree in ancient history and philosophy from Loyola University in Montreal and Middlesex Community College.

Mr. Kalivas had been employed for many years as a dental laboratory technician until the time of his retirement.

A lifelong resident of Peabody, Mr. Kalivas enjoyed participating in the New England Vintage Electronics Club (formerly known as the New England Antique Radio Club), and regularly attended their shows to search for antique radios, phonographs, and vintage electronic parts. Not only would he bring old radios and other electronics back to working condition, but he would also restore them in such a way that they looked pristine and beautiful.

In addition to old radio repair, he also was a classic car enthusiast. In the summertime, he frequently attended the Cruisin' the Tree car show in Danvers with his family.

A true audiophile, he had a great love of music, particularly jazz from the 1920s and 1930s, and owned an extensive record collection. He was extremely enthusiastic for the art of filmmaking, and especially loved movies from the Silent Era. He was an avid comic book collector, and collected comics from the Golden, Silver, and Bronze ages since the late 1970s. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife with whom he shared twenty-nine years of marriage, he is survived by three daughters, Anastasia Kalivas Coil and her husband, Ben of Reading, Artemis Kalivas and Athena Kalivas both of Peabody and a sister, Stella Kalivas of Peabody. He was also the brother of the late Anastasia Dandaneau.

ARRANGEMENTS: A visiting hour will be held at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. followed by a service in the church at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
