Obituary For Brian E. Vasilio

Derry, NH – Brian E. Vasilio 53, died Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of Kathleen (McLaughlin) Fraser of Peabody and the late John “Jack” Vasilio. He was a graduate of Manchester New Hampshire High School, class of 1987.

He enlisted in the United States Army after graduating high school and was proud to have served as a tank mechanic during Operation Desert Storm in Iraq, where he forged many of his strongest, most lasting friendships. It was in the Army that he met and married his first wife, Angelika Azaouzi and became a father. He was most proud of his role as a father to Jackie and grandfather to Ayden and Maya. He loved them deeply and cherished every moment he spent with them.

Brian loved to entertain with his sense of humor and had the biggest heart. His ability to hold a crowd’s attention with his funny tales was one of his greatest gifts. He loved his family and friends fiercely and protectively and would do anything to keep them safe and happy. He loved to tell stories about his times growing up in the woods of Peabody doing “bungaroos” on trees and floating down the Danvers river on branches.

He enjoyed riding his Harley and would spend hours cruising in New Hampshire taking in the outdoors. Never one to be alone, Brian was always happiest at some type of party, bar or celebration. He would be the one with the loudest laugh and craziest stories. At family gatherings, he would always arrive with the most outlandish gift or story to keep everyone amused. His work was important to him. He served as a mentor to the younger mechanics, sharing his skill in trouble shooting issues and fixing machinery. He and his work partner had a special connection and worked as a team for many happy years.

When he knew his days would be short, he continued to crack jokes and gathered his friends and family together over weekends to reminisce about fun times from the past and create new memories while sitting around the table playing Uno, go-carting at Foxwoods, or sitting in the living room watching old reruns and being silly. It was important to him that the people he loved most were connected so they had each other to lean on in the future. He consistently expressed his love and appreciation to everyone and made sure they truly understood how important they were to him.

While he will be sorely missed by many, his memory will truly live on in all who knew and loved him. He lived every day to the fullest and left a lasting impression on all who met him.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Azaouzi and her husband, Moez of Pinzberg, Germany, two grandchildren, Ayden Vasilio and Maya Azaouzi, both of Pinzberg, Germany, a sister, Karen Maloney and her husband, John of Peabody, two nieces, Lauren and Paige Maloney of Peabody, his aunt, Julie Liacos and her husband, Peter of Gloucester, his step-mother, Lesley Vasilio of Candia, NH, his loving pet beagle, “Louise” his second wife, Patty Burton Vasilio and his cousins and dear friends.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Care Dimensions for their care and compassion during Brian's last days of life.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Box 758518, Topeka, Kansas 66675.

Condolences

So very sorry to hear about Brian, I had no idea he was sick, he never let it show & carried himself with his head held high, with positivity, and had an inner light that people were drawn to. It was always a joy to see him at work, he made me laugh and although I did not know him very well, I am going to miss his presence at Amphenol very much, I could always count on him for making me smile and making me laugh and making my day better. My prayers are with his family and friends and for any who had the pleasure of knowing him. My sincerest condolences, Lee Emanuelson
