Lynn – Carol J. (Downs) Bergen 83, beloved wife of John J. Bergen died Thursday, February 2, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin R. and Josephine (Corcionne) Downs. She was raised in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School where she was a proud member of the cheerleading squad. As a young woman, Mrs. Bergen had been employed as an executive secretary at the General Electric Company in Lynn. Following her marriage, she dedicated her life to raising her family. A lifelong resident of Lynn, Carol enjoyed cookouts, pool parties, getaways to the white mountains and family trips to Canobie Lake Park in Salem, NH. Her pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren Brett and Gabby. She was a loving wife, mother, nana, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her husband with whom she shared sixty years of marriage, she is survived by two daughters, Lori A. Bergen of Lynn and Lyn M. Gagnon and her husband, Brian of Peabody, a son, Brian J. Bergen of Lynn, two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Brett Gagnon and a brother, Ben Downs and his wife, Barbara of Lynnfield. ARRANGEMENTS: A visiting hour will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
