Carole Grayson age 85 of Peabody, passed away peacefully at Pilgrim Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on June 19, 2022. Carole was born at home in November 15,1936 in Beverly, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Eino Sormunen and Gertrude (Sylvester) Sormunen.

Carole was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. Her son and his family were her pride and joy. Carole was an original employee of Filene’s when it opened at the North Shore Shopping Center in 1956. She continued to work at Filene’s in the children’s department and then with Macy’s until her retirement. Carole was a lifelong active participant of St John’s Lutheran Church in Peabody. It was the church her grandfather founded and built to serve the Finnish community of Peabody, a heritage that Carole was so proud of.

Carole was predeceased by her brother John Sormunen of New Smyrna Beach, Fl. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Deb Grayson of Peabody and her three grandchildren, Luke, Lindsey and Libby Grayson.

Services will be held Wednesday July 27 at 10am at St John’s Lutheran Church, 32 Ellsworth Rd in Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
