Obituary For Caroline B Turco

Caroline B. Turco, 89, of Danvers, formerly from Lynn, passed away January 12, 2022, with her family by her side. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband with whom she shared 67 years of marriage, Kenneth "Sonny" Turco.

She was born to the late Walter and Viola Maag on December 10, 1932, in Lynn, MA. She was predeceased by Merle Brewer, her stepfather and her loving sister, Irene Farnham.

Caroline graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1950 and received a Diploma in Nursing from the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. She was a Registered Nurse at Lynn and Union Hospitals for over 40 years, where she was well- respected and adored. She was a Lynn Hospital School of Nursing Alumni.

Caroline and Sonny met and fell in love at the Bedford Veterans' Hospital. The majority of Caroline's life was spent with her beloved husband and four wonderful daughters on Sluice Pond in Lynn.

Caroline is survived by her husband Sonny Turco, and her four daughters and their husbands: Sherry and George Olson, of Lynn; Linda and John Vasapolli, of Saugus; Norma and Thomas Miaskiewicz, of Salem and Carolyn and Peter Morin of Brookline NH. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Michelle, Joseph, Jennifer, Kristen, David, Steven, and Daniel, along with nine great-grandchildren.

She played the piano and she passed her appreciation of music to all her children. Caroline had many hobbies including book club, Bingo and opera. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories especially of Christmas outings to musical shows for her December Birthdays. As her health declined, she often repeated the quote: "I Love You more than you know."

DUE TO THE RECENT COVID-19 SPIKE, THE FAMILY HAS OPTED TO HAVE ALL SERVICES HELD PRIVATELY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in support of breast cancer research at Susan G. Komen, www.komen.org.

I just heard from Jeanne Beem that Caroline had passed away. To all the family, I am so, so sorry. I lived at Avalon Apartments as well while Caroline and her husband were here. She used to play bingo with my Mom & Dad. (In fact, my Dad was the bingo caller ! ... The ladies all spoiled him.) For years, Caroline used to make many loops walking around the complex. Don't know how she did that much walking. I missed her when she moved to Colonial Gardens. I think of her often when I drive by her old apartment. She loved it here, and always said she would stay here until she died. She was the kindest person I ever knew.... never a harsh word about anyone. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. (PS... she's probably starting another Bingo group in Heaven !! ) Anne Odom

Caroline was such a sweet and kind lady. I was in her Bingo group at Avalon apartments every Tuesday for over 15 years. She was always laughing and happy and made the best brownies and cake for the group. I send my sympathy and prayers to the family. she will be missed. Jeanne Beem

Mom Mimi Great Mimi, You were the sweetest mom a daughter could ever have. Thank you for everything you did for me. I will never forget all the love and support through the years. I will miss all the fun times we had going to shows and shopping. It was fun going out to lunch and when dad came to. Growing up on Sluice Pond was so much fun. It was always like a vacation.We had so many recent visits together. And I loved to talk with you. The days of working together at Lynn Hospital and Union Hospital as RN's was great too. Both being graduates of Lynn Hospital School of Nursing was wonderful. Great memories. You were so special to my family. I will miss you so very much.
