Obituary For Charles "Charlie" Angeramo

Salem – Charles "Charlie" Angeramo, 83, beloved husband of Bertha M. (Wilkinson) Angeramo, died peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2023.

Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Carmine and Agnes (Milo) Angeramo. Growing up, Charlie cherished the Sunday gatherings of family and friends at his house on Birch St. for an Italian feast and socializing. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, Class of 1957, attended Northeastern University and served in the Army Reserves.

Charlie was best known as the proprietor of Charlie & Joe’s Market on Lynn Street in Peabody. This family business was the pride of his working life where he made many special friendships. As a young man, he worked as a butcher and department manager at the First National Supermarket and later in life worked as a meat manager for Beacon Supermarket, on Beacon Street in Boston, until the time of his retirement.

A resident of Salem for the past fifty-seven years, Charlie was a parishioner at St. Richard’s Church in Danvers and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #70 in Lynn. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Charlie was a man of great inner and outer strength as he endured many health challenges and still focused on others. Although receiving dialysis three times a week was difficult, Charlie cherished the interactions with the nurses and his fellow patients at DaVita.

Charlie had a great love for life and was an unselfish and genuine man to all he met. He had such a positive outlook and made everyone around him happy with his personality and humor. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. “Papa” was always so proud and had a huge smile on his face when spending time with or talking about his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, with whom he shared fifty-seven years of marriage, he is survived by his daughter, Beth Henrick and her husband Michael of Methuen, and two sons, Charles “Chuck” Angeramo and his wife Linda of Danvers, and David Angeramo and his wife Tracy of Salem. He also leaves nine grandchildren, Kara, Ryan, Nicholas, Jillian, Shane, Stephanie, Michaela, Anthony and Grace; as well as a sister, Mary Mondello of Lynn, a sister-in-law, Margaret Gorman of Newington, CT, and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joseph and Peter Angeramo.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Richard’s Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial is in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Jimmy Fund. For directions and online guestbook please visit www.ccbfuneral.com.

Living on "the hill", my family has wonderful memories of Charlie and Bertha. Every year, around this time, Charlie would be poised to tell his favorite joke: "Did you hear that Fenway Park won't be selling beer this year?" After you asked, "Why is that Charlie?", he'd break out in a big grin and say, "Because they lost the opener"! He was the salt of the earth and everyone loved him. May his memory be a blessing. Love to Beth, Chuck and David from "Mrs P" (Karen)

I only had one Uncle, and he was the best. I lived with Bertha and Charlie for two summers while taking care of the kids while they worked at Charlie and Joe's market. Such a wonderful family that they raised together

Uncle Charlie was always smiling and such fun to be with. He was truly a family man. I remember when Beth was born, he was absolutely beaming. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren, they were all his pride and joy. His devotion to Bertha began at day one and never waivered. I love you Uncle Charlie. You will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
