Obituary For Colleen M. Kazan

Peabody – In the early morning of October 6, 2022, Colleen M. (Mercurio) Kazan, loving mother to three children, passed away at home following a day and evening visit of love and comfort with her daughter, Dina Connors, daughter, Karen Quealy, grandson, Michael Quealy, grandson, Patrick Connors, her dear friend/family forever Patrick J. Connors and her fury friend, Jasper Connors.

Colleen was born in Boston and was raised in East Boston. She was the daughter of the late John and Rose (Inzirillo) Mercurio and the beloved wife of the late Philip P. Kazan.

She was a hairstylist at the former Jordan Marsh at Downtown Crossing in Boston and was frequently hired out privately as a stylist for weddings and special events.

Colleen loved vacationing with her husband, Philip for a long weekend in Italy, Las Vegas, any east coast island. Her favorite place was Hawaii where they would spend their winters. She loved going to church wherever she was. She loved to draw and had a very artistic mind where she showcased her love of art and decorating in her home. She was an avid walker, walking many miles wherever she was. She loved dining out or staying in, always ready to enjoy a glass of cabernet. She loved her neighborhood, both in East Boston where she lived surrounded with lifetime friends and family and later in Peabody where she loved her neighborhood and neighbors, namely Tom and Linda C., Donny and Cindy S., Jackie P. and her mailman, John J. She loved romantic/comedy movies, especially enjoyed Hallmark Christmas movies. She was a lifetime supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Center and prayed to St. Jude in anyone’s hour of pain and darkness. She was an eclectic music lover. Her favorite concert was seeing the Rat Pack in Vegas where she got her ticket signed by the group.

Colleen was genuinely kind and always open. She was graceful and beautiful. Her soul was elegant and never aged. She was a quiet woman with a wicked sense of humor. You are already so missed at home and will be missed by everyone who knew you.

You are now breathing beautiful Mummy, we love you so much. A special thank you to VNA Care Hospice who are literally angels on earth. You all respected Colleen’s wishes, body and mind and put us at ease in our darkest hours.
