Obituary For David Alan Hatch

David Alan Hatch, 76, beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend, died early Wednesday at his home in Danvers following a courageous battle with cancer. His last days were spent with his loving family, cracking jokes and making us all smile, just as he always did with anyone lucky enough to know him.

Dave thrived on meeting people, making new friends, and helping others, and his laughter and kindness touched many over the years. He was the devoted husband of Linda J. (Charbonneau) Hatch, with whom he shared over 51 years of marriage. Born and raised in Lynn, David was the son of the late Ernest S. Hatch and Mary A. (Stafford) Hatch-Muise. After graduating from Lynn English High School in 1964, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 36 years. He kept busy following retirement, charming customers and coworkers as a sales associate at Doyon’s Appliance in Gloucester for 15 years.

David was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Danvers, and the Parents for Music Education in Danvers, the latter of which he served as president. He enjoyed coaching his children in little league baseball and soccer and cheering for the Red Sox.

David is survived by his loving wife, two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael D. and Erin D. Hatch, and Steven A. and Christina Hatch, all of Danvers, his daughter and son-in-law, Karen L. and Ryan Myers of Franklin, his brother, William β€œFred” Hatch of Lynn, his beloved grandchildren, Emma and Eleanor Hatch and Madelyn and Nolan Myers, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dog Winnie, a constant companion who could often be found in his lap or on his bed. David is preceded in death by his sisters, Bernice (Hatch) Anderson and Diane (Hatch) Perham, and brother Ronald Hatch.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or to Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St, Danvers, MA 01923.

Dear Linda, I have to echo Lori's statement about how much fun David was all the time. A kind gentleman, with an amazing sense of humor, folks like that you never forget! And it was a very long time ago with Diane's 4th of July pool parties, but those memories never fade with time. Take it one day at a time, and the kids need to do the same. Sending Love and remembering him fondly. Kelly Sullivan

Linda, and family, my sincere sympathies to all of you. My best memories were at Diane's 4th of July parties, where he and jonnie Cronin dressed up and made everyone hysterical! He gave so many of us in that "circle", so many fun thoughts and memories. Plus, playing cards with Diane and friends. Remember those fun times and memories, trust me I know.
