Obituary For David Neil Rayworth

Peabody - David Neil Rayworth, age 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 5, 2021 after courageously battling multiple illnesses.Neil was born in Everett, MA and grew up in Lynnfield where he had many interesting childhood adventures with his brother Lloyd and life-long friend, Al Marchese. Soon after graduating from Wakefield High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol Hanson, and they soon started their family of four children. Neil was a highly respected Ironworker with Local Union #7 for over 30 years. His strong work ethic, helpful attitude, and warm personality made him loved by everyone who knew him. Neil was an avid golfer and enthusiastic gardener with a green thumb. Everything he planted including his prolific vegetable garden was a source of awe. He also loved to cook and always prepared extra to share, much to the delight of his neighbors and family. His seafood chowder was top-notch and his legendary meatballs with sauce were requested at all family events.Above all, Neil was a family man who would do anything for his family. He assumed full-time care of his wife, Carol, when she became terminally ill with PSP (Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy). He was always ready to lend a hand to his children and grand-children. Rhonda and I always found joy in visiting Neil and Joyce. He was always upbeat and had many chuckles to share. He was the most selfless person I've ever met even when he was struggling with the pain in his legs and other ailments. He was a happy man and wanted very much to share his happiness with others. I will miss him very much.

Life goes by so fast, he was just passing out Halloween candy, and as usual called me with the head count! Such a great guy. Welcomed me to the neighborhood, even before I bought the house, making my realtor chuckle. The block will not be the same without the "Neighborhood Watch Warden" !! Rest in peace my friend !!

Neil was the best father-in-law a daughter-in-law could ask for, he was always, loving, caring and kind. I will miss him deeply. Kathleen Rayworth
