Obituary For Deborah G Holt

Deborah G (Donovan) Holt, 86, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died Thursday at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles T Holt.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Raymond J and Josephine F (Cologey) Donovan. Raised and educated in Lynn, she attended Pine Manor College before starting her lifelong career as a flight attendant.

Deborah loved to travel and followed her dream of becoming a Flight Attendant for American Air Lines in 1959, remaining with the company for over 43 years before retiring in 2002 as a member of their Three Diamond Society. She started her career in Dallas where she lived for seven years before returning home to Massachusetts and marrying her beloved husband, Chuck. The couple bought a house in Peabody and started their family.

Deborah was a member of the Red Hat Society and Boston Northeast Van Guards, as well as being an avid gardener. Upon retiring from American Airlines, Deborah dedicated herself to traveling the world with her friends and being the ultimate grandmother to her five grandchildren. She saw them every day, attended every school function, every sporting event, and was present for every milestone in their lives.

Deborah is survived by her daughters, Kristen Adelino and Jennifer Davis, both of Peabody, her son-in-law, Luis Adelino, her beloved five grandchildren, Derek, Sophia, and David Adelino, and Georgia and Charles Davis. She is also survived by her two closest friends, Patricia DiMartile and Nancy Perry with whom she shared a lifetime of laughter and adventure. She is predeceased by her sisters Katherine J Kennedy of California and Nancy A Sullivan of Swampscott.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 31, 2023, from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St, Peabody.

My sincere condolences for the loss of your Mom and grandmother. Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the service in her honor as I am not in the country at this time. She is now soaring with the angels and watching over all of you. I will always remember Debbie fondly as she was larger than life.

What great memories flying with you way back when. Those international layovers when crews really bonded and enjoyed those wonderful destinations. You will be missed by all those you leave behind. Deepest sorrow to all. Dianna (Bevins-Powell) Ventura

Oh my, Debbie Holt! I had only been flying for 2 months and I was drafted to fly international. To say I didn't know what I was doing is an understatement. I had my first trip to the Caribbean with Debbie. She was senior and I was intimidated. The entire crew had dinner and then we went out on the patio because there was music and dancing. After a few songs Debbie got up on a table and was dancing on it! My face must have looked shocked so she smiled at me, came down, took my hand and started dancing with me. I thought " this is going to be fun!" She was so much fun and there was so much laughter! I believe Pat DeMartile was there too. I loved those sweet, kind ladies who knew how to have fun. RIP Debbie.

I first met Deborah when I was working at the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum in London on her layover with American Airlines, Deborah would tell me about her late husband " Chuck " and the fantastic life she had with Chuck. After a few months when Deborah was in London we became very good friends and spent a lot if time shopping With Deborah in London. Then Deborah invited me to Boston to stay with her, then I met all the family who made me fill so welcome, when ever I flew to Boston Deborah would always ask me to bring Radox bubble bath which Deborah loved and off course Thorntons toffee. Then for 15 years I would stay with Deborah who was like a second mum to me , and all the family made me fill like a part of the family. When Deborah retired from American Airlines and her last stay over in London I wanted to make sure Deborah had the best room in the hotel As a thank you from me for the way Deborah looked after me. I might not have been back for a few years to Boston but Deborah was always on my mind , in what a fantastic, caring Deborah was. She raised to wonderful daughters Jen and Krisy and she was a wonderful grandmother. Deborah will be with me in my heart until we meet again.xx
