Peabody – Delfim Fidalgo 88, beloved husband of Maria da Lourdes Borges Cunha Fidalgo with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, died Monday, May 23, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Lagarinhos, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Bazela) Fidalgo. He received his education in Portugal. He emigrated to America in 1965 to be with his wife and raise his family.

Mr. Fidalgo had been employed as a machinist at Container Corp. of America until the time of his retirement. Prior to that he had worked in the leather industry and as a young man was police officer in Portugal.

A longtime resident of Peabody, he was a member of the Portuguese Continental Union and the Club de Camoes. He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, spoiling his grandchildren and cheering on his favorite soccer team, Benfica.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Emilia Moylan and her husband, Matthew of Methuen, a son, Joaquim Fidalgo and his wife, Tracie of Framingham, three grandchildren, Christopher Moylan of Houston, TX, Allison Moylan of Lowell, and Cassandra Fidalgo of Framingham, three brothers, Antonio Fidalgo and his wife, Palmira, Manuel Fidalgo and his wife, Isabella and Jose Fidalgo and his wife, Matilda all of Peabody. He was also the brother of the late Maria da Encarnacoa Fidalgo and Alfred Fidalgo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody, Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
