Obituary For Diane M. Gannon
Van Alstyne, TX - Mrs. Diane Martina Gannon, 82, passed away September 4, 2022 with her family by her side after a sudden severe illness.
Diane was born on April 4, 1940 in Lynn, Massachusetts to parents Catherine and Martin Petersen. Diane is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Petersen. Diane spent her life lovingly devoted to her family including her husband, Richard K. Gannon, her children, Catherine Chapman (John) in Colorado, Richard Gannon (Sarah) in Virginia, Jill Field (Bryan) in Texas and eight grandchildren whom she adored and who adored her -- Richard Gannon, Luke Chapman, Jakob Field, Emily Gannon, Joshua Chapman, Garrett Field, Allison Gannon, and Thomas Gannon. Diane also dearly loved her many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She often spoke of how fortunate she was and how proud she was of her family.
Diane grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1957. She lived in many places during her husband’s Air Force career and traveled to 23 countries all around the world both through Air Force assignments and on many vacation adventures.
Diane spent much of her life as a homemaker devoted to her family, but she also spent many years working in an administrative support capacity at Lamar Consolidated ISD in Rosenberg, TX as well as McKinney ISD in McKinney, TX. Diane was also an avid volunteer, most often in support of organizations her children were involved with including various swim teams, Girl Scouts, PTA and more. Diane loved her family beyond measure and was widely known for her kindness, her witty humor and her infamous coffee cakes which she generously baked and delivered to anyone and everyone who was in need or who had showed her the slightest bit of kindness.
ARRANGEMENTS: A Visitation will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, on Saturday, September 17th from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M. followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn. Diane loved flowers in her garden, but she was also passionate in her support of many charities. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either of two charities near and dear to Diane: the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or Southeastern Guide Dogs.
