Donald J Plourde, 94, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died Wednesday morning surrounded by his family at Salem Hospital. He was the devoted husband of the late Donna C (Mooney) Plourde, with whom he shared over 63 years of marriage.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Severin J and Florence (Lapier) Plourde He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1946. He has lived in Peabody for the past 66 years.

Upon his graduation from high school, Don enlisted in the United States Army and served for over 2 years before his honorable discharge. After his discharge, he attended Northeastern University and received his bachelor’s degree in 1952.

Donald was employed as a claims manager for over 32 years at Liberty Mutual in Boston before retiring as regional claims manager of New England in 1990.

He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his children and his grandchildren, caring for them, and sharing in all of their activities, especially at their camp in New Hampshire. In his later years he enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots as well. He also was a Trustee of the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody.

Donald is survived by his four sons, Dr. John Argeros and his wife Virginia of Peabody, Richard and his wife Rebecca Plourde of Hampton, NH, Dr. Donald Plourde and his wife Katherine, William Plourde and his partner Lisa Young, all of Peabody, his daughters, Mary Lou and her husband Brian Reardon, and Anne Marie and her husband William Walsh, and his daughter-in-law Sandra Plourde all of Peabody. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren, Bethany and her husband James Kozlosky, Suzanne Cady and her husband Marshall, Jonathan and his wife Brittany, Michael Reardon, Thomas Walsh, Kelly and her husband Michael McGovern, and Dr. Shannon Walsh and her fiancé Stephen Girolamo, Amy and Elise Plourde, and William and Christian Plourde, his great grandchildren, Isabelle and Emelia Kozlosky, James and Will Cady, and Brianna Reardon, his brother Jack Plourde of Lynn, and by his nephews, Richard and his wife Virginia Mooney of Pennsylvania and Alan and his wife Judy Mooney of Methuen. He was predeceased by his 10 siblings and by his granddaughter Allyson Plourde.

His funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, 100 R Cedar Grove Ave, Peabody.
