Obituary For Edward "Ted" E.S. Robbins

Edward “Ted” E. S. Robbins, 82, of Marlborough, MA, passed away Friday afternoon at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital surrounded by his loving family following a courageous 9-month battle with illness. He was the devoted husband of Carol A (Person) Robbins with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Ralph Freeman and Elizabeth (Sturges) Robbins. He was raised and educated in Falmouth and was a graduate of Lawrence High School in Falmouth, class of 1959. He played on the varsity football and golf teams.

Ted began his working career working as an accountant for Wainwright in Boston and later he opened his own tax service business, Robbins Business Services, which he operated for over 35 years before retiring in 2020.

Ted was an avid golfer and had a longtime family membership at Thompson Country Club in North Reading, MA before moving to Estero, Florida where he was a member of the Pelican Sound Golf Club. He was a long-time communicant and active member of St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody. He was the treasurer of the annual Holiday Bazaar and a member of the couples’ club as well. In his younger years, he belonged to the Jaycees in Peabody, and coached baseball and basketball to ages from elementary school to high school.

Family and friends meant everything to him, he was a fierce competitor and a giving person, however, his favorite endeavor was spending time with his family and grandchildren on the Cape for a magical time during their annual summer week together. He will be dearly missed by all.

Besides his loving wife of 60 years, Ted is survived by his beloved children, Lynne (Robbins) Wood, of Uxbridge, MA, Edward “young Ted” Robbins and his wife Belinda of Hartland, WI, and James “Jimmy” Robbins and his wife Lisa of Lynnfield, MA. Ted was a kind and thoughtful person, and a good friend. At Pelican Sound golf, he was legend for his ability to hole the ball from off the green, so well known in fact that such chip-ins made by his many golfing buddies were routinely called "Teddys". In Ted's honor, we continue that tribute. Sharon & Jon Hinton

My sincere condolences to the Robbins family. I had the pleasure of golfing with Ted on occasion at the Tompson Country Club. He, along with myself, Frank Conway and Jim Roderick made up a team at member guest tournaments. Fond memories for sure. RIP

I had the good fortune to have played many rounds of golf with Ted at Pelican Sound. He had a very consistent game that I admired . He struggled in the later years due to a medical problem. But, he didn't complain and made the best of his situation. He showed great courage which insures me now.I will plant trees in his memory because they produce the substance he needed most in his struggle. I know he would approve. I miss you Rip. Fred Ebetino

My family grew up next door to the Robbins family in West Peabody. My sisters and I played with Lynne, Teddy and Jimmy all throughout our childhood. We spent hours in the circle with the neighborhood kids and had lunchtime swims in the Robbins' pool. They were the best neighbors and friends. My memories are warm and comforting. Thank you Mr. And Mrs. Robbins for your wonderful friendship to my parents and to myself and my sisters 💕 Fondly, Jeannine
