Peabody - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Effie S. Barbrick, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and aunt. She was 95 years old when she peacefully passed on February 6, 2023. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody, MA.

Effie, daughter of the late Stavros Papadopoulos and Ekaterina Kerlis Papadopoulos, was born on March 21, 1927, in Peabody, MA. She was a devoted spouse to the late Raymond “Ray” W. Barbrick for 58 years, and a loving mother to Carolyn Vaccaro and Raymond “Rick” Barbrick. She was known for her kind heart, warm embrace, and love of family.

Effie was the sister to Steve, Christy, Anne, Pauline, Kay, and Helen. She was an aunt and great aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews. She was the proud grandmother to Bobby Vaccaro, Billy Vaccaro, Briana (Barbrick) Salley, and Meredith Barbrick. Effie loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be remembered for her selflessness, her strong spirit, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, son-in-law James Vaccaro, and her husband.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family members: Daughter, Carolyn Vaccaro and late husband, James, as well as son, Rick Barbrick and wife, Wendy. Grandchildren: Bobby Vaccaro and wife, Maureen, Billy Vaccaro and wife, Kim, Briana (Barbrick) Salley and husband, Josh, as well as Meredith Barbrick and fiancé, Thomas Molina. Great grandchildren: Amanda (Vaccaro) Kumm and husband, Brian, Allyson Vaccaro and wife, Ashli, Scott Vaccaro and wife, Kim, Shawn Vaccaro and partner, MacKenzie Davis, Cady Vaccaro, Samantha Vaccaro, Effie Clair Salley, Hannah Sierzega, Tommy Sierzega, and Oliva Call. Great-Great Grandchildren: Charlie Kumm, Leo Kumm, McKenzie Kumm, and Gannon Vaccaro.

Effie was excitedly awaiting the May 2023 birth of her newest great grandchild, Eleanor Elizabeth Molina.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, and may her memory live on in the hearts of those she loved.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral services will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Visiting hours on Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Effie S. Barbrick will be laid to rest in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Effie’s memory to Care Dimensions, via their website.
