Elizabeth A. “Betsy” (Jersyk) Toomey, 82 of Peabody died Wednesday, December 14,2022 at the NSMC Salem Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of the late William A. Toomey.

She was born in Marblehead, MA on February 24, 1940, the daughter of the late Emil and Louise (Crowley) Jersyk and was raised in Salem graduating from Salem High School.

She was first employed with the Registry of Deeds in Salem and later was an administrative assistant at the North Shore Catholic Charities and then at the Wide Horizons of Waltham prior to her retirement. Betsy was a volunteer for many years at the St. Thomas the Apostle Thrift Center and at the Peter A. Torigian Senior Center.

She is survived by her son and daughter, William A. Toomey Jr. and his wife, Barbara Holland Toomey of Cape Elizabeth, Maine and Ellen Toomey Manning and her husband Michael Manning of Byfield, MA, her 4 grandchildren, Sierra and Kai Toomey and Jameson and Finnegan Manning, a brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Julie Jersyk of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Christina Green.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 1:00 until 4:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody/Salem line at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
