Obituary For Elvira F. (Franco) Gonzalez

Peabody-Elvira (Franco) Gonzalez, 98, died on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington following a brief illness. She was born on June 8, 1922 in the beautiful village of Castillo de Novais in Lugo, Spain.

She was the youngest daughter of Nicanor and Flora Franco. She had four siblings, Claudio, Florindo, Julio and a sister, Maria.

Elvira married Manuel Gonzalez in 1946 after World War II and had their son, Jose in 1947. She had another son, Carlos in 1964. In 1966, her brother Claudio asked her family to come to America. Elvira worked at Sylvania and other factories until her retirement in the eighties. Elvira loved to garden flowers and taking care of her family and pets. She was loved by everyone that ever met her. Her rosy sunshine personality will be missed by all who knew the warmth of her big heart.

Elvira is survived by her son, Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez and her daughter-in-law, Tami Boyle and their beloved children, Brandy Gonzalez, Daniel, and Michael Boyle, her nieces and nephews, Manuel, Ricardo, Antonio, Raymond, Maria and Ester Franco and their families.

A very special thank you to a wonderful woman who Elvira thought of as her own daughter, her nurse for the past 6 years, Maria Bellini, who tirelessly and passionately came every day and helped care for Elvira. Maria made her feel loved, special, and brought her tremendous joy in these dark times. Elvira cherished her assistance and friendship over everything else. We love you, Maria! Oh Granma you have left a huge hole in all of our hearts. I will forever cherish the moments we had together even at the end when you didn't feel very well I would walk into your bedroom and you would give me that beautiful smile and you would say my name in that accent of yours that just melted my heart every time! We had so many laughs and amazing conversations that I will never forget. I love you immensely and always will. I wish you were still here with us but I know you are no longer in pain and are now with your Mom, Husband and Jose which you have missed terribly for many years now. Charlie I have never seen anyone stop their life for the past 5 years to take care of his Mom the way that you did! You need to be very proud of yourself for it was the most unselfish act you have ever done and she loved you deeply for all you did for her, which was everything!!!! I know the end wasn't any where near the way you wanted for her to go but that was totally out of your control and I hope one day you will realize just how great of a son that you truly were! FLY HIGH - FOREVER LOVED - FOREVER MISSED
