Obituary For Eric R. Bowler

Eric R. Bowler, 44, of Peabody, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Lowell, and raised and educated in Lowell, MA, and Hudson, NH, he was a graduate of Alvirne High School, class of 1996. Eric had been employed at Schlager Co Inc where he worked as a plumber for many years.

Leading from the examples he had from growing up in his Aunt and Uncles home; Eric took great pride in his family. By far, his biggest joy were his wife and children. He taught them the importance of working hard, staying loyal, and not taking yourself too seriously. He could most often be found on the softball, baseball, or flag football field cheering on his children and would have it no other way. A perfect balance of humor and seriousness, his personality was magnetic. He was a fierce protector of those he loved and had a large circle of friends who were like family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Mello, his three children, Teagan, Drew, and Van Bowler, his mother, Debbie Bowler, his aunt and uncle, Nancy and Jonathan Ballou, and his very close cousins who were like siblings, Brain Ballou and fiancé Kevin Cox, Laurie Fitzgerald and her husband, Gary, and Michelle Kennedy and her husband, Rory. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Lorraine and Ernest “Grumpy” Bowler.

ARRANGEMENTS: A visitation will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody MA 01960, on Thursday, May 19, 2022, from 5-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody on Monday, May 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Contributions may be made in Eric’s memory to Eastern Bank co/Bowler Children, 37 Foster St., Peabody, MA 01960.

My condolences to his entire family. Eric was such a great man. When we were younger he always showed me love like a little brother. He will never be forgotten.

Back in our late teens to late twenties, I had the good fortune of getting to know Eric, socially, through mutual friends, and distinctly recall his fun-loving energy. Though I didn't see him often, he always exhibited loyalty to me and demonstrated a genuine desire to connect. He was quick was a smile, and even when trouble was brewing, and his was in the fray, it felt like he might laugh at any moment - and he certainly made me laugh plenty, too. I hope he knew I appreciated that, and appreciated him. Even when he pushed me into a pool with all if my clothes on, in front of dozens of people, I couldn't be mad at him. Thanks for the memories, brother. My love and strength to his family and those closest to him. - A. Reed

We are terribly sorry that you and the children have to live this unimaginable loss, without your partner in crime by your side. Nothing resonates more to me at this moment than the post you made the other day about your mom. The same bodes for you as well. Your that same strength for your kids. You love unconditionally, you don't take life too seriously. You also find the good in everyone and you make no judgment. Eric left you and the kids way before his time. If anyone has the strength and resilience it is you. Nobody will ever be able to take his place, I'm sure he is resting easy knowing all the people down here that will always carry you all. Xoxo

I first met Eric when I interviewed him and subsequently hired him for a Offset Pressman's position years ago... He worked hard and learned allot while always giving it his 100% effort... He definitely had a magnetic personality and a zest for life! Eric while it has been many years since I last saw you or spoke with you this is a real shocker to all of us that know you... You will be terribly missed by your wife and kids and friends that love and know you... RIP Eric... May God keep watch over your family! Al Provost Weare, NH
