My father and I had an estranged relationship. I know he wanted more for me, but at a time I needed him the most in my life, he wasn't there for me. My father wasn't there for me for most of the important moments in my life. I was always last on my dad's list. It was Maria and Richard that was the only things that mattered after he married her, shoot couldn't put the wedding off by one day to come watch me graduate from high school. He w a a much better man when he got sober. Mean son of a bitch when he was drinking. When I was told not to come to the funeral per my lovely pos step mother, Maria, and the fact about 2 years before he actually died, he told me on the phone that he was dead and bot to call that phone number again, I knew just how him and hers felt about me. Well now you know how I feel about you guys...I hope ur laying next to him soon Maria..you guys deserve each other.

Gene was my brother Gary's age. Even though he was 3 years older then me I felt like he was my friend, not my brothers. That is who Gene was. I agree with Eric, every time I saw him it felt like is was yesterday since I saw him last. Condolences to his family. RIP my friend until we meet another day.

Tara, Jenn and the rest of your family my condolences to you all. Your dad was a great man. He was always kind to me when I was younger, and as I got older, I'd run into him at the mall or when I worked at Bugaboo, and he'd always asked how my parents were and we talked for a few minutes and catch up. He always lit up when he talked about you and Jenn. Hugs to you both. Christine Marshall

I knew Gene when he worked for my father, Nate, driving big oil trucks and smashing home runs on the soft ball team down at Cy Tenny Park in West Peabody. I'll never forget when he almost took out the light pole rounding 3rd base. Sure it was big, but Gene was bigger. At least to me he was because I was just a kid. He was always nice to me. Once in a while, I would call him Bluto after the character on Popeye and he'd pretend to growl like Bluto to make me laugh. I have 25 years sobriety now thanks to people like Gene. He was very helpful and always willing to talk and took my questions seriously when I'd run into him down at the gas station on Lowell St. I ran into him a couple years back and we caught up. With Gene, it was like no time had passed. I really like that guy and I'm really gonna miss him. My heartfelt condolences to his family. No one's perfect but he was a good guy.
