Obituary For Francis J. "Hoss" Hosman

Salem – Francis J. “Hoss” Hosman 91, husband of the late Kathleen (Latour) Hosman with whom he shared fifty years of marriage, died peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late William and Beatrice (Leahy) Hosman.

Francis was very active in many veteran’s associations. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict where he served aboard the USS Maury and the USS Knapp, ending his four years on the island of Okinawa. He was a life member of the VFW Post #1011 in Peabody, the DAV Post 84 in Salem, the American Legion Post #331 and the Amvets Post #70 in Falmouth.

Surviving him are his four sons, William Hosman of Salem, Michael Hosman and his wife, Sylvia of Peabody, Francis Hosman and his wife, Nancy of FL and Timothy Hosman and his wife, Lo-Ann of FL, eight loving grandchildren, Colin, William, Ryan, Mikayla and her husband, Roy St. Amand, Andrew, Conor, Grace and her husband, US Coast Guardsman, Anthony Farese, and Cameron, a great grandson, Grayson Francis St. Amand who will be joining the family in the near future, two brothers, Albert Hosman of NY and Thomas Hosman and his wife, Betty of Peabody and a sister-in-law, Claire Hosman of Salem. He was predeceased by his brothers, James and William Hosman, his niece, Lisa Hosman, brother-in-law, Frederick Latour and Gary Bray and his wife, Mary Judith (Latour) Bray and Kenneth Roy. He was also predeceased by his best friend, Robert “Humbo” Armstrong.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held from the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Friday, April 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. For directions and online guestbook please visit www.ccbfuneral.com.

    All my memories of Hoss were that of a kind, loving, sincere, soft spoken man who was like an uncle to me. I would always look forward to the many visits we made to the Hosman home for cookouts, pool parties and those infamous July 4th gatherings, such fun! Thank you Hoss for all those GREAT memories and for being such a close friend to my father! Love you all....
