Frank W Smith died on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Salem Hospital surrounded by his loving family who had cared for him throughout his extended illness.A devoted family man, Frank used his character, dignity, and sense of humor to deal with his many health challenges. He will be lovingly remembered for his humility, his intellect and quick wit, and his ability to make others laugh and smile.Born in Salem, MA, to the late Albert and Stacia (Szikney) Smith, he attended Salem High School, class of 1970, and continued his education at Boston College.Frank is survived by his sons Brett Smith and Gregg Smith both of Salem, MA, who selflessly cared for him in recent years, and his daughter Julie Jodoin of Salem and her two sons Alex and Zachery.In addition, he leaves his siblings Kate Downey (Paul) of Beverly, Maureen Smith of Salem, Steve Smith of Salem, Barbara Smith of Rockport, and Ann Smith of Salem, as well as his former wife Marlene Sewall (Gary) of Hampton, NH and many cousins and adoring nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Jamie Maki Smith (Brett) of Salem.The family wishes to thank the staff at Salem Hospital for the care, kindness and support that they extended throughout Frank’s illness.Arrangements were made by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody. At the request of the family, the services will be private.
