Obituary For Frederick J Lewandowski

Frederick Joseph Lewandowski, 93, of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died Wednesday morning, August 18, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Dorothy E. (Hall) Lewandowski with whom he shared over 68 years of marriage.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late William and Zofia (Tokarski) Lewandowski. He was raised and educated in Salem, a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1945. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving in World War II at Quantico Marine Base in Quantico, Virginia, and achieving the classification of sharpshooter.

He was a die-hard fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Bruins, and Boston Red Sox. His hobbies included golf, watching westerns, and enjoying his family.

He is survived by his son, Richard Lewandowski of Peabody, and his four daughters, Cindy Lewandowski of Salem, MA; Theresa Barnes of Virginia Beach, VA; Nancy and her husband Michael Mayr of Port St. Lucie, FL; and Laura McCarty of Bedford, NH; he is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jonathan and Jordan Barnes; Joshua and Jared McCarty, and Alison and Kevin Lewandowski; 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his five sisters, Alice Ladyszewski, Mildred Grusheski, Stacia Benjamin, Stephanie Sylvain, and Helen Berkeley; and by his brother, Stanley Lewandowski.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, August 20, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody. His funeral service will be on Saturday, August 21 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem, Mass.
