Obituary For Gail C. Desmond

Gail C. Desmond, 64, of Peabody, passed away peacefully at her home early Saturday morning following a courageous three-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was the beloved wife of John Desmond.
Gail was born in Lynn, MA on May 3, 1957, daughter of the late George and Maureen (Martin) Conrad.
Gail started her career at GE in Lynn, but then found her niche as a Librarian for the Peabody Institute Library in Peabody where she worked for 34 years. She enjoyed getting together for monthly dinners with co-workers from GE and the Peabody Public Library, she was an avid reader, and most importantly she enjoyed being surrounded by her loving family including her dog Lucky and grand-dog Logan.
Besides her loving husband John, she is survived by her children, Jesse Desmond and his wife Heather of Peabody, Jordan Desmond, his daughter Catherine Roach-Desmond and Catherine’s mother Carey Roach of Delray Beach, FL, Christopher T. Desmond of Peabody; a step-daughter Rebecca Dunn, her son Kane Wojick of Peabody and Rebecca’s husband William of Somersworth, NH; her siblings, Maureen Delpero and her husband Richard of Peabody, Liane Conrad of Peabody, Michael Conrad and his partner Kris Mackert of Vienna, VA, Patrick Conrad and his wife Darlene of Peabody; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her step-son, Christopher M. Desmond in 2005.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 20, from 4 -7 P.M at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 21, in St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., at 10:30. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923 and to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., SW120, Boston, MA 02215.
