Obituary For Gail F. Rollins

Gail Rollins peacefully left this world on September 9, 2021 surrounded by family at her home in Peabody. She was 83. Born in Kingman, Maine to Verlie (Merrill) Crooker (d. 2003) and Joseph P. Crooker (d. 1969) on April 6, 1938, Gail was blessed with the love of her family and friends and she returned that love and kindness in equal measure.

Gail moved to Lynn, MA with her family as a child. She graduated from Lynn English High School in 1956 and fell in love with her soon to be husband, Eddie Rollins of Peabody. Gail and Eddie married in 1957, settled in Peabody and started their family. The first of their three sons, Daniel, was born in 1960. Woody followed 14 months later and Barry was born in 1967.

Gail’s love for her three boys (and 6 grandsons) was boundless. She was a nurturing mother with a positive outlook on life which she shared with her boys. Always the advocate for her children, Gail was loving, fiercely loyal and supportive of their hopes and dreams. Gail was bright, resilient and had a great sense of humor. She was always looking to share a laugh over a cup of coffee.

After raising her sons, Gail went back to work. First at Evans Flowers in Peabody and then to Hamilton-Avnet in Peabody where she won many awards for her sales accomplishments. Her customers and peers appreciated her sincerity and respected her work ethic. She retired with Eddie to Clearwater, FL where they enjoyed the sunshine and many wonderful and lasting friendships before moving back to Peabody to be near her family.

Gail is predeceased by her husband Eddie, loving sister Betty Ann (Crooker) Gallant, brother Doug Crooker and infant grandson, Baby Jake. She is survived by her son Daniel and his wife Patti (Mills) Rollins and their sons, Daniel and Joseph; son Woody and his wife Lynn (Kearney) Rollins and their sons, Teddy, Patrick and Matt; and son Barry Rollins and his son Alex. She is also survived by her best friend and sister, Loretta (Crooker) Tenaglia of Peabody and sister Linda (Crooker) Stodder of Florida. She leaves scores of nieces, nephews and their children who fondly called her Auntie Gail.

Services will be for the immediate family and a celebration of life will be held at a later date for her many friends and family, as were her wishes. Gail lived a wonderful life and we will join together to celebrate her importance to all that she touched. Donations may be made in Gail’s name to Girls Inc. of Lynn, inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.

  • My sister was not like no other. I remember the night she was born. Dad called her his little rabbit. We sent one birthday card back and forth for 58 years. The card will now stay with me. We have been very close all our our life. She move to Florida when Eddy and she retired. After 25 years she came came home and moved to Brooksby to be near me! We saw each other every day. We shared our memories we cried and laughed together, growing old together consoling each other, telling secrets to each other. I am happy for her, she got her wish, but I am lost I will miss her the rest of my life. She was not only my sister she was my best friend.

  • My beautiful, sweet and loving auntie. They said I looked like you and my laugh was the same as yours. I always loved when I heard that because I was so proud to be your special niece. I'm so grateful I was able to spend the last year so close to you. I always knew you loved me. I will love you forever. ❤️ Love, Your Valerie Rose xxxooo
