Obituary For George K. Arvanitides

Salem – George K. Arvanitides 81, beloved husband of the late Barbara Ann (Moses) Arvanitides and the late Cindi Mallia, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, September 4, 2023.

Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, he was the son of the late Konstantine and Dimetria Arvanitides. He emigrated to the United States as a teenager, settling in Peabody where he resided for many years before moving to Salem.

Mr. Arvanitides owned and operated George Arvanitides Electric until the time of his retirement. Prior to that, he had worked at Eastern Tool in Lynn and at Salem Hospital.

A resident of Salem for over fifty years, he enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and playing cribbage but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Steven Arvanitides of Salem, a daughter, Kerri Murphy and her husband, Dennis of Atkinson, NH, three grandchildren, David J. Arvanitides and twins, Ava Barbara Murphy and Riley Claire Murphy, two sisters, Valerie Giordano and her husband, Buster of Danvers and Katherine Ciano of Peabody and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
