Obituary For Ginny R O'Rourke

Ginny R (Bailey) O’Rourke, 69, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon at the Lahey Medical Clinic in Peabody.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Johnson) Bailey. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1972.

Ginny worked for the city of Peabody for over 29 years retiring as the head cook at the Brown School. She enjoyed gardening, boating, talking and most of all going to the beach. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Ginny is survived by her daughter Breanne and husband John Speciale, sons Ian and wife Kim O’Rourke and Garrett and wife Denise O’Rourke, step-sons Shaun and wife Dee O’Rourke and Brian O’Rourke, her siblings, Norma and Lew Cohen, Phyllis and Chuck LeBlanc, Ken Bailey, Paul and Lesley Bailey, Jack and Pam Bailey, Maryellen Louf, and Glenn Bailey.

She is also survived by her beloved 5 grandchildren, Ella, Rosalia, Jack, Mackenzie, and Hughie as well as countless nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her former husband, Hugh J. O’Rourke, Jr.

Oh, and one more thing…

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody and her Funeral Service will be on Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.

Ginny will be missed by anyone who ever had the opportunity to know her. Her heart was always pure and filled with the best kind of hippie energy. I will always think of her when I hang my laundry on the line, as we had many discussions on the merits of air drying. She was also a great photographer, which many of you may not know. We also shared that hobby. Everytime we would visit her, she would give us shoots from her always growing garden selection, and have several of her plants in our home. We'll say hello when we water them...
