Obituary For Glenn R. Currie
Peabody – Glenn R. Currie 71, beloved husband of the late Diane (Cooper) Currie, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Tampa General Hospital in Florida surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Grace (Milliken) Currie. He graduated from Lynn Classical High School and then decided to enter into the United States Army. After his time in the Army, he continued his education earning a Bachelor’s degree from Boston University in Aerospace Manufacturing. Glenn was an honorably discharged veteran of the Vietnam War era, where he dedicated seventeen years of service to his country as a Captain in the United States Army. He greatly enjoyed his time in the military and he continued taking interest in all helicopters and planes. He also had a great love for country music, and could be found playing the drums in his spare time.Mr. Currie had previously been employed as the general manager for Bodycote Manufacturing in Ipswich until the time of his retirement in 2018. In retirement, he greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed spending the last few years in Florida with his granddaughter, Reese. A longtime resident of Peabody prior to moving to Florida in 2020, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. Surviving him are his two sons and two daughters, Glenn Currie Jr and his wife, Kate of Amesbury, Shannon Phillips of Salem, Katie Currie of Groveland, and James Currie and his wife, Stacey of Apollo Beach, FL. His sister Pamela Rogers and her husband, Thomas of Peabody. His five grandchildren, Alex, Cecilia, Brenna, Reese and Zackary Phillips. ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a service in the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to any local Military Veterans organizations.
