Henrique Capela, 86, of Peabody, died Wednesday afternoon, December 8, 2021, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his family following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Jeanette (Marcelino) Capela.

Born in Mosteiro, Vial Real, Portugal, he was the son of the late Jaime and Gloria (Dos Santos) Capela. He immigrated to the United States on March 22, 1964 and has been a resident of Peabody ever since.

He was employed in the leather industry as a trimmer for over 30 years for Travel Leather before retiring years ago.

Henrique enjoyed spending time in his garden, loved birds, especially his parrot Lotto and canaries as well, and he loved his soccer team Porto. He was a member of the CLC and Holy Ghost Society, both in Peabody.

Henrique is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Antonio Capela of Newburyport and Carlos and Darlene Capela of Peabody, his daughter and son-in-law, Arminda and Konstantinos Dagas of Greece, his sister Rosa Pinto of Peabody and is also survived by his three grandchildren, Lee and Alexandros Dagas and Andrew and his wife Andelyn Capela. He was predeceased by his siblings, Maria Fazendeiro, Berta Pinto, Duarte Capela, and Albano Capela.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday December 14, 2021, from 7:45 until 8:45 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Walsh Ave, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
