Ilidio “Val” Flores Serra Valente passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, 10/1/2922. He joins his beloved wife Ana who went to the lord in 2019 after 64 years of marriage. Ilidio was born in Moita do Ribatejo, Portugal, to Diogo Lopes Serra and Antonia Joaquina Flores Valente. He moved to Lisbon and worked on small electric motor repairs. When he was 25, he fell in love with Ana and moved to Peabody with his new wife where he lived the rest of his life. Val worked as a small electrical shop, and on the machines at Central Bakery while going to night school to learn English and becoming a US Citizen. He then went to Parker Brothers “the best job ever”. He retired at age 58, and stayed in contact with many form the PB family. Ilidio and Ana purchased Ocean View Lodge and Cottages in Dennisport MA and ran this business together for 30 years, Val kept the grounds immaculate and fixed everything while socializing with guests from all over the world. Ilidio was a man of integrity. He was a member of South Congregational Church in Peabody and sang in the choir for many years, Just two weeks before he went home with Jesus, he was able to attend a church potluck and see many from his church family. He is survived by his son, Ilidio Jr. and his wife Dianne; their children Jessica, Robert, Andrea and Derek; his son in law Anthony Vorrias; His son, Diogo and wife Elaine and their children, Rebecca and Mark Gallagher, Sarah and Roberto Monasterios, Samantha Valente, Matthew Valente; his grandsons Gerry and Kirsten Spencer and Jeffrey Valente Spencer of Peabody. His is also survived by his Great Grandchildren, Cheyenne, Alex, Patience, Aivril, William and Hannah. In addition to his wife and his parents, Ilidio was predeceased by his daughter Teresa (Valente)(Spencer) Vorrias; his great-grandson, Nicholas, his brother Joaquim, and sister Joaquina and many nieces and nephews, A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
