Obituary For Irene Giannias
Irene (Bouras) Giannias, 90, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Tuesday at Salem Hospital. She was the devoted wife of the late Sotirios Giannias.
Born in Greece, she was the daughter of the late George and Maria (Niarchos) Bouras. She was raised and educated in Greece, she immigrated to the United States in 1968 and has lived in Peabody since then.
Irene cherished being the matriarch of her family, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and crocheting. She was a devout member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church and a proud member of the philoptochos. Family was everything to her.
Irene is survived by her son, Dennis Giannias of Peabody, her daughters, Paula Aggelis of Greece, Georgia Giannias-Noe of Peabody. She is predeceased by her son George Giannias of Peabody. In addition, she is survived by her sisters Zoi Armenis of Lynn, Pauline Petradelis of Peabody, and Connie Bouras of Greece. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Joanna Aggelis, Kostas Aggelis, Sotirios Aggelis, Peter Noe, Sotirios Giannias, and Irene Giannias, and six great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Her Funeral and Burial Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church 5-7 Paleologos St, Peabody, MA 01960.
