J. Doris (Courtney) Durkin, 90, of Peabody, died peacefully in her sleep at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on December 30, 2022. Born in Salem on May 22, 1932, she was the daughter of Louis and Stacia Courtney.

Doris was a registered nurse who trained at Boston City Hospital. Through her 40 plus year career as a registered nurse at Salem Hospital, she was a floor nurse for many years as well as a surgical nurse at the Salem Hospital Day surgical center. Doris retired to her favorite home in Maine at Kezar lakes and later Sebastian, Florida.

Doris was predeceased by her first husband Richard Shruhan of Wareham and later her second husband Phillip Durkin of Salem, her son Robert Shruhan of Peabody and her brother Robert Courtney of Salem.

Doris was the matriarch of her large surviving family, her son Richard Shruhan and his wife Vicki, her son Ronald Shruhan and his wife Cindy and her daughter Leslie Shruhan. Doris also leaves behind her nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren along with her life partner Richard Winsor of Sebastian, Florida.

Her Funeral Services were held privately.
