Obituary For Jacqueline Rousseau

SALEM – Jacqueline Rousseau, 97, died on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at her home at Brooksby Village in Peabody.

Born in Salem, MA, January 4, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Festus and Marie-Louise (Picaud) Rousseau. She was a graduate of Ste Chretienne Academy and Salem High School. She was then employed by the General Electric Company in Lynn, MA for over 41 years in the Turbine Engineering Division, starting as a draftsman and rising to a position in management. She was one of only two women hired in that Division, as drafting was considered to be a “man’s” job in those days.

Jacqueline made numerous trips to France, some of which were extended stays, living with her maternal family.

She found great enjoyment in her life-long interests of traveling, reading, especially of history, needlework and her hobby of photography.

She was a member of The Trustees of Reservations where she served as volunteer photographer at their Long Hill – Sedgwick Gardens property in Beverly for over 12 years, member of the Greater Lynn Photographic Association, Marblehead Arts Association, Peabody Essex Museum, Essex County Greenbelt, Hamilton Hall, Maudslay State Park and the former North Shore Camera Club and Yankee Photographic Society.

Jacqueline is survived by her extended family: Henry Venuat, Bernard Venuat, Mr and Mme Jean Berger, Mr and Mme Fabien Ramos, along with other members of her extended family, all in France. She was predeceased by Simone (Picaud) Venuat, her cousin, also in France.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held graveside, at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 226 North St., Salem, Friday, December 2, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.

Dear Jacqueline's family, As you know, she was a long time member of Hamilton Hall. I had the pleasure of talking with her one the phone a few times where she told me stories of her teen years when she took dance lessons and music concerts at the Hall. I am so sorry for your loss, yet I am happy she was able to be with you for such a long full life. She seemed like a fabulous person. My condolences, Donna Fritz, Hamilton Hall staff member.
