Obituary For James A. Tsonis

Peabody – James A. “Demetri” Tsonis 93, beloved husband of the late Vasiliki (Malafestas) Tsonis, died Monday, January 24, 2022 following a brief illness.

Born in Valira, Greece, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Macropoulos) Tsonis.

Mr. Tsonis had been employed for many years as a leather worker for the A.C. Lawrence Leather Company in Peabody until the time of his retirement. He had also worked for various painting companies as well.

Surviving him are three daughters, Mary Stavrianopoulos and her husband, Spiros of New York, Sophia Smith of Florida and Patricia Hubbard and her husband, David of Peabody, two sons, Arthur Tsonis and George Tsonis both of Peabody, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister, Despina Drougas of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was also the grandfather of the late William Tsonis and brother of the late Charles Tsonis and Leonideas Tsionis.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.

    Lord have mercy. Memory Eternal for James Tsonis who was a father, grandfather and uncle to his children, grandchildren and neices and nephews. May God protect his soul in peace while he awaits the second coming of Christ our Lord who will lead us to God the Father after judgement. May all of the reposed and the families stay connected together in heart with us all as we make our journey to God.
