Obituary For James Donovan lll

James Donovan III, 83, of Lynn, MA died peacefully on September 26, 2022 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with his wife and family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Barbara (Sudak) Donovan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; daughter, Cara, her husband, Louis Fauci and two grandchildren, Lila and Joseph Fauci of Melrose; sister-in-law, Nancy Donovan of Danvers; his nieces, Stephanie Gargiulo of Danvers, Debbie Turner and Jill Oberoi both of New Jersey and a nephew, Jeff Phykitt of South Carolina. James was the brother of the late Stephen Donovan.

James was born in Malden, MA on December 25, 1938, the son of the late James and Annabelle (Graham) Donovan. He was a graduate of Saugus High School in 1956 and received his BS in Business Administration at Merrimack College.

James served in the US Army in 1961 with the United States Army Signal Corps, specializing in Cryptography. He was stationed in Butzbach, Germany before being honorably discharged in 1967. James was a career-long General Electric employee. He worked at the River Works plant in Lynn as a Tool and Gage Inspector and later helped open the GE Factory of the Future in Lynn prior to his retirement. He also served on the Board of Directors at the GE Credit Union. He was immensely proud of the time he spent at GE and valued the many friendships he made while working there.

The simple things in life brought James the most joy, daily walks with his wife Barbara, reading books, fishing with his grandchildren, and vacationing with his family. He loved the mountains of Stowe, Vermont and North Conway, New Hampshire where he enjoyed skiing with his daughter and with his grandchildren in later years. He cherished his time with his two grandchildren, Lila and Joseph, watching them in their various sports activities. He and his wife Barbara were very active in the First Church in Wakefield where they delivered meals during the holidays and found joy in volunteering at the church.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 2, at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility from 2:00 until 5:00 PM. His funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield MA. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Kaplan Family Hospice House (Care Dimensions), 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers MA 01923 or to the First Parish Church, 1 Church St. Wakefield, MA 01845 in his memory.
