Obituary For James F. Liston Sr.

James F. Liston Sr., 87, of Topsfield, MA died peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 11, 2021. He was the devoted husband of Alice (Glencross) Liston who died in 2016. Jim was born in Peabody on April 18, 1934, the son of the late Frank and Mildred (Byra) Liston and was raised and resided in Peabody before moving to Topsfield. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lynn in 1951 and Northeastern University. He had been employed with the Raytheon Company for 36 years before his retirement as a facility Manager. He had been active in Peabody as a member and director of the Peabody Jaycees and served on the Centennial celebration as chairman of the Banquet committee. He and his wife were members of the Squares-in Focus square dance group of Peabody for many years. They also enjoyed traveling to Europe and taking cruises in the Caribbean, especially St. Lucia. He was very handy working on his home projects and always willing to lend a hand in helping others. He also enjoyed playing golf and had been a member of the Raytheon golf league and the Olde Newbury Golf Club. He most precious time was spent with his family taking trips to the lakes up in New Hampshire and later in Maine. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Atty. Jayne and Edward Bogart of Topsfield; a son, James F. Liston Jr. of Danvers, his two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and John Patrick Liston of Florida . He was the Father of the late John Liston. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His Funeral Service will be held there on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited and to kindly wear masks if you are not vaccinated. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Northeast Anima Shelter, 347 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970 or to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 in his memory.     Jim was a wonderful, kind-hearted, and tremendously giving man. He was a good husband and father, and a great friend. He will be greatly missed by my family and myself, and especially by my father, William Casey, to whom he shared a special friendship. We love you, Jim.
