Obituary For James M. Dumas
Peabody – James M. Dumas 64, beloved husband of Patti (Tracchia) Dumas, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Salem Hospital.Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Paul and Barbara (Quinlan) Dumas. He was raised in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1976. He continued his education earning a degree in Architectural Engineering from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.Mr. Dumas owned and operated All Safe Lock and Key in Peabody for over ten years and prior to that he worked as the plant engineering manager at Voltek in Lawrence for many years.A lifelong resident of Peabody, Jim was a longtime member of the Peabody AOH where he was the recipient of and honored as “Irishman of the Year” in 2022. He also served as the master of ceremonies for monthly trivia at the AOH and was known for his revered rendition of “Delilah” at karaoke. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Meadow Golf Course in Peabody where he ran the “Fighting Irish” golf league for many years. When not on the golf course, you could find Jim watching the bruins with a cold one alongside his lifelong friends, Billy Desmond and Derek McCarthy.His larger than life stories, sense of humor, and feisty spirit never failed to entertain everyone he met. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.In addition to his wife, with whom he shared forty years of marriage, he is survived by his daughter, Michelle Dumas and her partner, Billie Junget of Peabody, his son, Patrick Dumas and his wife, Eleni of Salem, a sister, Mary Ditty and her husband, Dave of Groveland, four brothers, Joe Dumas and his wife, Pamela of Webster, John Dumas and his wife, Ellen of Peabody, Edward Dumas and his wife, Joanne of Topsfield and Thomas Dumas and his wife, Heather of North Reading and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his favorite little buddy, Vinnie the Chug. ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody, Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Peabody AOH Scholarship Fund, 58 Lowell St., Peabody, MA 01960.
