Obituary For Jane M Hartney
Jane M (Tyrell) Hartney, 89, of Peabody, died Thursday afternoon surrounded by her family at the Pilgrim Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Thomas George Hartney.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Marguerita (Lavery) Tyrell. She was raised and educated in Boston and Salem MA and has lived in Peabody for the past 35 years.
Jane was a graduate of Salem Hospital School of Nursing and then continued to work as a Registered Nurse at both Salem Hospital and at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody before retiring years ago.
Jane is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Paula Hartney of Swampscott, her three daughters, Mary Jane Hartney of Gloucester, Katherine Hartney of St. Petersburg, FL, and Isabella Dion of Haverhill, her devoted grandchildren, Timothy Hartney, George and his wife Tasha Hartney, Brian Dion and his partner Stephanie, Donald and his wife Kayla Hartney, and Jessica Hartney, her four great grandchildren, Aubree, Thomas, Elle, and Mason Hartney, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons, Thomas and George Hartney, her son-in-law, Michael Dion, her siblings, Richard, John, David, Donnie, and Thomas Tyrell, and Sr. David Mary, and by her grandson, Thomas Hartney.
Following cremation, visiting hours will be held privately at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody. A Celebration of her life will be held later this spring.
Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to the Open-Door Food Pantry, 28 Emerson Ave, Gloucester, MA 01930.
