Janice (Perkins) Gillis, 73 of Franklin, formerly of Salem, beloved wife of Richard Gillis passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. She is finally at peace.

Born September 23, 1949, in Salem to the late Albert and Eileen Perkins, Janice was the third of six children. As the first girl she always looked after her siblings. She graduated from Salem High School class of 1967. After being raised on the Northshore she settled down in Franklin.

In 1973 Janice married Richard Gillis in Salem. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Together they had two children, Matt and Patty. She stayed home in the early years to ensure both children were well taken care of. When she returned to the field Janice worked nearly 30 years at Shaw’s supermarket in Franklin in many roles. She joined a bowling team with friends from work for many years.

A beloved wife, daughter, sister, cousin, mother, aunt, great-aunt, friend, but perhaps her most treasured role was that of grandmother. She will be greatly missed.

Janice is survived by her husband Richard Gillis, children Matthew Gillis and his partner, Sarah Gagnon of Franklin, and Patricia (Gillis) Anastasi and her husband Christopher Anastasi of Tyngsboro; her grandchildren Gabriella and Luca Anastasi; her siblings Sharon Perkins, Bruce Perkins, Carole Keating, Mary Flynn, and Katie Couture and many nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
