Obituary For Jean A Kerwin

Jean Audrey (Gregory) Kerwin, 82, passed away peacefully on December 20th following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph T. Kerwin, with whom she shared 55 happy years of marriage.

Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Bertha (Dubois) and Thomas Gregory. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lynn, class of 1957, and moved to Peabody shortly thereafter, where she spent the rest of her adult life.

Jean graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing (Lowell, MA) in 1960 and worked as an emergency surgical nurse at Lynn Hospital. In 1962, she transferred to the J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody, MA and worked there until it closed in the early 1990s. Following her retirement, she worked part-time as a nurse at the Torigian Senior Center until 2017.

Jean loved traveling. Her favorite memories involved cruises with her husband and sister, tours of Europe with her daughter and granddaughters, and many road trips across the U.S. and Canada with the Arbella Drum & Bugle Corps. She especially loved adventures with her family and could be seen ziplining through the Berkshires and parasailing off the coast of Hawaii in her later years. Jean will be remembered fondly for her selfless support of family and friends, quick wit, biting humor, and world-famous apple pie.

She is survived by daughter, Kelly and her husband, Kevin Anderson of Peabody; two granddaughters, Elizabeth King-Doonan and her husband Gregory Doonan of Durham, NC, and Samantha King of Wenham; devoted sister, Donna and her husband Robert Marcotte of Peabody; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for Jean’s funeral on December 27th at 11:30am in the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Burial to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. A visitation will be held on December 26th from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Jean’s memory to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, St. 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
