Joan M. (Bennett) Powers, 84, of Peabody, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of David L. Powers Sr., with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.

Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Doyle) Bennett. Joan was raised in Salem and received her education from Salem High School, class of 1955. She continued her education at the Salem Hospital school of Nursing, receiving her diploma as a Registered Nurse in 1958.

Joan began her career at North Shore Medical Center where she worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years.

A resident of Peabody for many years, Joan was a faithful parishioner of St. Adelaide's Church.

Joan was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed spending her winters in Naples, Florida. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children, David Powers Jr. of Peabody, John Powers of Salem, and Julie Powers of Salem, and her granddaughter, Jill Powers of Tyngsborough. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Shaw.

Arrangements: Her funeral Mass will be held at St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody, on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, on Tuesday, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Contributions can be made in her memory to The Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
