John A. Silva

PEABODY—John A. Silva, 70, beloved husband of Linda (Neves) Silva of Peabody, died peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Tuesday April 22, 2014, while in the comforting presence of his family.

Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio and Lucinda (Quadros) Silva. He moved to the United States at age 16, settling in Peabody where he lived the last 54 years.

Mr. Silva first worked in the leather shops, and then worked 19 years at GTE Sylvania. He worked several years at Danvers Industrial Packaging before retiring two years ago.

John was a member of the Holy Ghost Society. He liked gardening to grow tomatoes, playing horse-shoes, and will be remembered for his generous nature of always helping others. He was most passionate about his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Linda (Neves) Silva of Peabody, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage; a son Tony Silva of Peabody; a daughter Kathy Silva of Peabody; five grandchildren, Neve, Paige and Quentin Pelland, and Evan and Ashlyn Silva; a sister Mary Silva of Salem; a niece Maria Kaba of Peabody, and many extended family including cousins and friends around the North Shore.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for his Funeral Service on Monday at 9:30 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 – 6 P.M. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
