Obituary For Jose Costa Silva

Peabody – Jose Costa Silva 80, died Thursday, April 20, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Graciosa, Azores, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Avelina (Costa) Silva. He emigrated to the United States in 1969, settling in Peabody where he has since resided.

Mr. Silva had been employed for fourteen years by GTE Sylvania in Danvers until the time of his retirement. Prior to that he worked for ten years at Bobcat Leather in Peabody. Before retiring, he also worked at the Lahey Clinic in Peabody for many years.

He greatly enjoyed watching soccer and loved his Portuguese national team. He was also a fan of the Sporting Club Team of Portugal. He had a great love for fishing, gardening and his grape vines in the yard, where countless of wonderful BBQ’s were held over the years with family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Manuel Silva and his wife, Elizabete of Peabody, three grandchildren, Alec Silva, Warley Silva and his wife, Lucrecia and Wesley Silva, a sister, Maria Ataide of Peabody, his former wife, Rosa Silva of FL and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Maria Silva, Judite Silva, Leonora Borges, Ezequiel da Costa Silva and Manuel da Costa Silva.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 3 Margin St., Peabody at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
