Obituary For JOSEPH E GRIFFIN SR

Joseph E. Griffin Sr., 93, of Peabody died unexpectedly at his home on Friday, September 2, 2022. He was the devoted husband of Sixty-Seven years to the late Evelyn (Domingos) Griffin who died in 2018.

A lifelong resident of Peabody, He was born on July 18, 1929, the son of the late George D. and Marie A. (Gelineau) Griffin.

Joseph entered the Coast Guard in 1951 during the Korean War and served two terms before his honorable discharge in 1957.

He had been a welder at the General Electric Co. in Lynn for over 25 years prior to his retirement. Joe and his wife then spent many winters in Florida, but his most precious time was spent with his family. He enjoyed doing woodworking and making wishing Wells and birdhouses. Joe liked to fish and helping with his son and grandson doing welding work with them.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph E. and Denise Griffin of Middleton, MA, a daughter, Linda M Sacco of Peabody, four grandchildren, Dawn and her life partner, Jason Andrews, Jennifer Sacco and Derek and Cherstyn Griffin: two great grandchildren, Madyson and Savannah Andrews and many nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Joseph Sacco and the grandfather of the late Joseph Griffin lll and the brother of the late Edith Griffin Fournier, Margaret Joyce, Ruth Bonfanti, Richard and Mickey Griffin, Patsy Lawrence, and Florence Pouliot.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Church, 17 Church St., Peabody wilt burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.     I have so many golden moments of memories of Uncle Joe, through growing up with him, lots of phone conversations, and losing at pool with him, giving my dad's guitar to me and mostly the love I will always have for him. RIP Joe Bob Fournier
