Obituary For Judith A. (Wright) David

Peabody – Judith A. (Wright) David 80, died peacefully Sunday, August 22, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Myrtle E. (Anstey) Wright. She received her education in the Lynn school system, graduating from Classical High in 1958. She continued her education, proudly graduating as a Registered Nurse from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing. Judie began her nursing career at the former Saugus General Hospital. She then devoted the next thirty years to caring for patients in the newly established Mental Health Unit at Salem Hospital, where she was greatly respected for her expertise, compassion, and counseling skills, until the time of her retirement. She took pride in being a 35-year participant in the Harvard-Brigham and Women’s Hospital Nurses’ Health Study. This study is the largest running investigation into women’s health, providing research and information in an effort to help reduce risk factors for health conditions such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Judie resided in Peabody for the past fifty-eight years, nineteen of which were spent raising her family with her late former husband Donald M. David. She was a loving mother, mother-in-law, Nana, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. In recent years, Judie’s window to the world was her computer. She would spend hours keeping in touch electronically with friends and family, playing her favorite games, shopping online, and of course keeping abreast of the police logs and obits. She enjoyed reading, crocheting while listening to the Red Sox, listening to her collection of Tom Jones CDs and was thrilled to have seen him in concert. She adored spending time with her grandchildren, hearing what they were all up to, and was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments. She is survived by her three children, Scott David and wife Sheri of Rowley; Kelley Szmyt and husband Mark of Pelham, NH; and Wendy David of Peabody. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Meghan Vestal and husband Tom, Casey Szmyt, Heather David, and Kevin David, as well as several cousins. She will also be sadly missed by her dogs, Rocky and Freckles. Her family would like to thank Care Dimensions for their supportive services that enabled her to remain comfortable at home through her passing, which was exactly what she wanted. In true Judie style, she ran the show her own way, which she always professed was the “Wright” way. ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral services will be private. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Kindly consider a donation in her memory to Care Dimensions www.caredimensions.org 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923, or to the Northeast Animal Shelter www.neas.org/donate 347 Highland Ave, Salem MA 01970.
