Obituary For Katherine G Akers

Katherine (Scarpone) Akers 96 passed away on August 26, 2021. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts to Eugenio Scarpone and Antoinette (Zampano) Scarpone, she attended Lynn public schools graduating from Lynn English High School.

She married her husband Melvin Akers and together they built a life in Peabody Massachusetts for over 63 years. Katherine was an avid reader and together with her husband traveled the US and the world. She enjoyed attending plays at the Beverly Theatre, a good restaurant and socializing with family and friends. Katherine was a charitable woman and supported the Wounded Warriors, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Vets, Toys for Tots and Saint Jude Children’s Hospital. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Melvin Akers, her grandsons Cameron Akers and Jordan Akers, her brother Louis Scarpone and her sister Marie Molligi. She is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Akers of Raleigh, North Carolina, a granddaughter Jada Hicks, her husband Steven Hicks, and a beloved great granddaughter Isley Hicks of Clifton, New Jersey, and several nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill and Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Pine Street Peabody. The family has asked for those who are attending to please wear facial covering.

    We will always remember the wonderful Sunday afternoons we spent with Katherine. She had some wonderful stories about her beloved father and mother. May she rest in peace and know she will be greatly missed. God bless her. Donns and Michael
