Dear Kathy - one of my favorite quotes is from Charlie Brown when Peppermint Patty asked what do teachers make? And Charlie answers "they make a difference!" You made a difference in so many lives and each of us is better for having known you. The Athletic HOF will not be the same without you! Sleep well, my friend and love & prayers to your family.

Kathy, there is so much I want to tell you. I got a new dog, her name is Nora. I ran the Berlin Marathon (ok, I walked a lot of it). People here in Texas wear parkas when it's 50 degrees. My new bathroom fan has a "disco" light and a Bluetooth speaker - Bathroom Party! Sometimes I miss the high school - not very often, though. I do miss You. I miss going to your office and just sitting, talking about everything and nothing. I miss talking about Hockey Cheer and tennis. You always helped to make my days a little brighter and better. I hope you know how much your friendship means to me. I will hold it and you in my heart forever. I love you always, my friend.

As I write this, I think back to when we first met. I was a PE teacher at the South School and Michael was my student. You were one of the few parents who came in to see me. Little did I know that a few years later we would begin a partnership leading the Health, PE and Athletic Department along with Bob, Seith, and Dennis for the Peabody Schools. Our partnership was based on one very important tenet: "Do what is good and right for kids". You became family, or as Alicia always said, you were my "work wife". You could finish my sentences and we always had each other's back. I'd always joke that having a work wife meant I could be at work or at home and still get that "don't make me come over and slap you upside the head" look. I swear sometimes you and Alicia called each other to make sure that you both were mad at me at the same time! I will miss you, because I could always depend on you to honest and let me know the truth, no matter what. That's all anyone can ask for in a good friend. Rest easy Kathy.

Kathy, I can never thank you enough for being my "Vice-Mom." You helped raise me, you held me when I cried, you were never afraid to call me out when I was being ridiculous, and you were one of my biggest cheerleaders. Somehow, you managed to balance the weight of the world and juggled everything in a way that made it look easy despite the fact that often times it was very difficult doing all that you did. My favorite moments we had together were the ones where we simply hung out in the Athletic Office or spent time at one of our homes. We would do everything from eat lunch, talk heart to heart, listen to music, and giggle over just about anything. No one has a laugh that says both "I'm up to no good" and "I love you endlessly" quite like you. I love you, Kathy. You are forever my "other mother." Every time I see Dory from "Finding Nemo," I promise I'll think of you and say "Just Keep Swimming." Swim on, Kath.
