Obituary For Kathleen Susan Chandler

Haverhill – Kathleen Susan Chandler, 73, mother of Gina Gilberti-Dore, passed away on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023, at Aspen Hill Nursing Home in Haverhill, Mass.

Born in Lynn, Mass and raised in Peabody, Mass she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nancy (Charron) Chandler. Ms. Chandler attended both Peabody Public Schools, Peabody High School, and earned her GED shortly thereafter. She resided most of her adult life in Salisbury, Massachusetts, where she raised her daughter Gina. In her younger years, Kathy worked as a Home Health Aide where she found immense amounts of joy caring for the elderly.

She was always considered to be a fun-loving, social butterfly. Kathy was very spiritual, with the presence of angelic décor within her home. Through the years, she was also involved in many different church organizations, including the Salvation Army. Kathy mainly owned cats in her older years but loved all animals. She also had a knack for crafting dried floral arrangements. Her love for dance was always apparent, so much so that when she was younger, she attended belly dancing classes.

As a mother, she was very involved in her daughter’s girl scouting activities and helped with coaching softball. It was important that we spent holidays with extended family throughout the years. As a Nana, she cherished the bond that was created between herself and her granddaughter Natalia. They shared many loving moments, such as spending time at the beach, travelling to Storyland, special talks, and shopping. Kathy is loved dearly and will be very much missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Gina M. Dore, and husband John of NH, as well as her granddaughter Natalia Dore of NH. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Nancy Chandler, and her brother Jeffrey J. Chandler.

We met through a bowling league and had some fun times together. A few Sunday mornings we walked around Hampton Bch in hopes of losing some weight. We took an overnight trip to the mountains and did all the tourist attractions. Your mom enjoyed it.

MOM, I am comforted knowing you are not suffering and in any more pain. Both Natalia & I watched you leave Earth and peacefully transition into your new heavenly home among God and the ANGELS. We feel privileged to know you felt so peaceful to pass with us by your side. WHAT A GIFT YOU GAVE...l sang the Catholic Hymn-Be Not Afraid / I go before you always / Come, follow me and l will give you rest. Just hours before your soul was taken into the beautiful blue sky & clouds to be with the rest of our family. I hope it comforted you. Until we meet again Mom...Love Gina!

Nana, You always loved angels so much, and now you are my guardian angel, watching over me. My Nana had the kindest, purest, and most loving heart. I loved her so much and will cherish all of the memories I had with her. Some of my favorites include spending time at Plum Island and Salisbury beach, singing silly songs and dancing when I was little, and having heart to heart talks as adults. Nana had a great sense of humor and was a bubbly, fun, and social person to be around. I always felt loved and cared about by her, and never felt like I was alone. You will be greatly missed by me, and by Andrew. However, I know you will always be with me and us as we move forward in our life as a couple together. You are now at peace in heaven and have no suffering or pain. I was truly blessed to be able to spend time with you as you entered/began your new heavenly life. I believe you felt my comfort and my mom's comfort as well. Andrew and I have donated to the American Liver Foundation in your memory- to assist in research and treatment for people suffering/dealing with pain from liver conditions. Nana, you will always be in my heart and soul and be my angel. I will always treasure every moment I had to spend with you. I love you more! -Natalia

Dear Gina and Natalia- your mom/nana was one of my dearest friends/"cousins" since 1970. We had such fun together whenever she visited with Jimmy and me especially when she tried to teach me how to belly dance! We laughed so hard that my kitchen floor shook! My greatest joy with Kathy was when she asked me to be your godmother, Gina. You were my first baby I ever took care of and she literally broke me in the night of your christening when she left me alone with you to say goodbye to her brother Jeff who was shipping off to join the Marines! Needless to say, you survived this and many other times I babysat you especially when your mom went to night school to earn her GED. Kathy and I would have fun sleep overs when she got home from classes. She also showed me that an iron was not only for ironing clothes but it you put two pieces of bread with cheese together and wrapped them in tinfoil, you could make a really quick "grilled cheese sandwich!" You and your mom were the first people we visited before we moved to Florida and the first two we visited when we moved back five years later. Gina and Natalia, I truly loved your mom and was blessed to have you three in my life and it was a privilege to be able to visit with her Saturday. Something Jimmy and I will treasure always. Elaine & Jimmy LaRaia
